Who is John?

Jacob, Peter and John are closest to Jesus

John was a fisherman.

The mother of John is a relative to Mary, Jesus` mother

The three disciples follow Jesus all the time, when Jesus goes up to the mountains to pray etc

Also in the garden of Gethsemane John was staying closest to Jesus.

 

How does John show his love for Jesus?

He was one of the youngest, around 24 years old.

1) dares to make decisions

Matthew 4: 21 to 22

When Jesus called them, he dropped everything and followed Jesus. He made an important decision quickly. God loves a person who decides quickly.

 

2) he is obedient

John 14.15 if you love, you will follow.

He was easy to teach. Jesus had only 3 years and John was teachable.

 

3) wants to be close to Jesus

John 13.23

Sits near Jesus, leans on Jesus.

When we love someone, we want to be near them all the time.

 

4) want other people to have faith in Jesus

Want other people to love respect Jesus too

 

5) love Brothers and sisters in Christ

1 John 5.1, John 13.34

 

6) courageous 1 John 4.18

In the garden of gethsemane, Judas brought the soldiers to arrest Jesus. All the disciples ran away, Peter denied Jesus but John did not he stayed next to Jesus.

 

7) first Love and follow through to the end.
