Formerly the Jews work 6 days and rest on a Saturday. However after a while they changed it to Sunday that is the day of rest.
The Jews call it the beginning of the week which is Sunday.
The reason it changed was that Jesus rose on a Sunday. Sunday became a day of rejoicing, Christians celebrate and worship God on Sundays.
The background of the verse comes from the time when Peter went to the house of a foreigner named Cornelius.
Normally the Jews do not mingle with foreigners. The juice are racist against foreigners. However, Peter did this because God wants foreigners to know about Him too.
When they met, Cornelius build a lot of respect for Peter by bowing low to him.
He treated Peter like he was an important person of God.
Cornelius invited his friends and family to the gathering and Peter spoke about God to all of them.
Even before Peter finished his speech, there was someone in the audience who already received the Holy Spirit and was speaking in tongues.
During that time when foreigners want to become Christians they need to be circumcised first before they can receive baptism.
Peter saw their earnestness and declared that they do not need to be circumcised but they can be baptized.
This is the first set of people that did not have to be circumcised before going for baptism.

Just do good things everyday. Sometimes the whole day we never do anything meaningful the whole week we just laze around. Everyday Jesus goes out and help and save people. Last week`s message about the Good Samaritan, about three types of people. First the one who is a robber and want to take other people`s things. Secondly the levite that is selfish and finally the Samaritan who helps people even though he is a foreigner.
God wants us to live our life meaningfully and help people out. When we don`t do good and help people what is the meaning of being a Christian in this world?
Our God wants us to live long so that we can be useful to other people by helping those in need.
Times when we help people we think that we want something in return such as becoming richer becoming smarter etc.
Jesus do not possess anything but being a nobody He was able to help many people.
How to have a useful life?
1. Make it a point to help others. Acts 10:38
God give us a new life so that we can help others
2. Do it with the guide of the Holy Spirit.
We have to lean on God and the Holy Spirit for guidance and assistance.
3. Help every kind of people. Acts 10:34-35
All kinds of people that we meet in our lives.
4. Help the physical needs of people.
Acts 10:39; Luke 7:22
Jesus healed the blind, the lame, the leper, the sick etc. People have a lot of basic needs like food money for spending etc
5. People receive salvation and give them information. Luke 19:10 . Matthew 9:35
6. To continue helping not stopping.
Acts 10:37,. 39.
7. Do things joyfully. Acts 20:35
8. If we face persecution, we must continue doing it Acts 10:39-40
