WORSHIP 1
Speaker: Pastor Somkiat
A basic life that is secure
Matthew 7:24-27
Building of a house- the base of the foundation that goes down into the ground is important.
In Thailand, the foundation pillars are pounded 18 meters into the earth.
When the foundation is strong, when there`s a storm, it will not shake and stand firm.
If the foundation is bad or not there, the building will be destroyed.
Jesus is comparing this to our lives. A person who builds the house on the rock versus
a person who builds the house on the sand. Compare this to two people who hear
God`s words.
When we look at buildings, they all look the same but if we look deeply, it is the foundation
that matters.
We may face many storms in our lives but if the foundation is good,
we can pass through the storm and emerge victorious.
Believing in Jesus, and that Jesus is good and that God created the earth.
Jesus looks at all who listen to Him and also whether they follow Him or not.
Genesis 15:6-7 Abraham believed in God and had faith in Him. He was asked to
go to a new land. He followed and listened to God. He left behind everything and followed
to wherever God wanted him to go.
Will christians leave their lives behind and follow where God leads them?
The disciples that Jesus chose are good examples.
Mark 1:17-18 They gave up everything and followed Him.
Matthew 21:28-31
The example of the 2 brothers. The first brother initially agreed but did not go.
The second brother rejected but finally went.
God wants us to prove to Him not through speech but through real action.
For believers- one listens and just retains what they hear
Another listens and then follows and applies
Jacob 1:22-24 When we listen to God`s word, it is equivalent to us looking into the mirror
and seeing which part of us is blemished. We should try to remove the blemish by slowly
wiping it off. We should not just listen and not apply it into our lives.
Luke 5:5-6
Jesus teaches His lessons to His disciples with real experiences.
The First example is the disciples who were fishing fruitlessly. Then they followed Jesus` instructions
and managed to catch a lot of fish.
Mark 6:41 The feeding of the 5000 people.
Matthew 14:28 Peter walking on water.
Lessons to learn:
1. If we listen and leave it in our brain, we will not have to experience and will
not be able to pass the storm.
2. We should obey, then practice and apply- get experience from God
and becoming more confident and increasing our confidence
3. Experience God`s blessing
4. Confidence in God further increases. With more storms,
we become more dependent on God and trust Him even more.
