Our God is a God of Mercy
Psalms 116:5

The Lord is gracious and righteous
Our God is full of compassion
The Lord protects the simple hearted
When I was in great need, He saved me.
Characteristics of our God
1) Merciful and full of grace. He empathizes with us and is full of compassion
2) Just and righteous
3) Full of Love and Mercy
How is God merciful?
Psalm 116:3 The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me;
I was overcome by distress and sorrow.
Verse 4:Then I called on the name of the Lord “Lord, save me!”
Verse 8: For you, Lord, have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling,
-death waits upon us
-writes on the miseries of life
-injuries of the heart
God gives mercy to the writer of Psalm 116 and delivers him from death.
Titus 3:4-6 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us,
not because of righteous things we had done,
but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,

Mark 5:19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much
the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
Mark 10:47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Luke 10: 25,37 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
Peter asked, after witnessing the events, do we (can we) still not care/
when we see sorrows, problems, miseries etc
God gives us a merciful heart to give generously and to help.
Philipians 1:8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
Lamentations 3:22-23 "But I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
