To serve the Lord, what kind of person should you be? (Acts 11:23-26)
Barnabas (Acts 11:24) The Expansion of beliefs has gone towards the North, including many non-Jews. Barnabas sees the grace of God.
Barnabas is a good person. Barnabas has the Holy Spirit. Barnabas has strong Faith.
1. Be a good person. What`s in our past, now we have entered God`s kingdom, we have to give up sin. Jesus died on the cross for our
sins and we have to be a good person and to not sin.
1.1 Good Person
Paul ( 1 Thessalonians 2:10-11) Paul shows a good example of being a Christian. We should repent and maintain the good points in our life.
Peter (Luke 22:32) Jesus knew that Peter will deny Him three times before the cock crows. Peter did fail and denied Christ. He was very sad
and cried. Peter repented and changed, and started to work very hard. s Christians may fail too but we have to repent and change. We will
not be able to not repent and continue to sin without regrets.
1.2 Good intentions for others. Love Others Encourage others, and also remind and warn person when they do wrong. People do not like
to warn others. Barnabas helped Paul, Antioch, and Jerusalem. We should remind and warn people because we love them.
2. Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Its a gift from God, a counsellor, and we have voice of the Holy Spirit to guide
us and teach us to do God`s work.
2.1 Intimacy The Holy Spirit encourages and teach. ( John 14:7, 26) The Miracle Counsellor ( Isaiah 9:6) Paul did many bad things
and he heard from the Holy Spirit.. "do not be afraid, God is with you..(Acts 18:9) "If it is serving, serve. If it is teaching, Teach.." Romans 12:7
The Bible is written through the Holy Spirit. Logos refers to the Bible words, and Rhema is understanding from the Holy Spirit.
3. Strong Faith.
Positive thinking. Believes in the future of a person. (Believed in Saul). Jesus believes in the future of Simon Peter. Jesus said he will be
a rock from now onwards.
Questions to ask ourselves:
1) How do we maintain our h?
2) How do we use the Bible to encourage others. How do we make the Bible useful for us to help others?
