Do Not Give In To Failure (2 Chronicles 15:1-8)
Background Chronicles 14:1 And Abijah rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king,
and in his days the country was at peace for 10 years.
Asa, King of Judah (1 Chronicles 15:11-12)
V1. Asa did what was good and right. He removed all foreign altars, smashed the sacred stones and cut down Asherah poles, when Asa
rose as king.
V3, For a long time Israel was without a true God, without a priest to teach and without the law. But when they turned to God, they found Him.
How did Asa bring people to turn back to God.
The Jews were all in turmoil and suffering, it was never safe to travel about. In the present world we are facing the same situation.
Everywhere we go, it is not safe. These days people are also not interested in teachings. Like the Jews, we are not in unity.
Asa has to come in to gather all together. Covid-19 is an invisible war. Today if we have Covid-19, we are put in a field hospital.
As Christians what should we do? Ask God to help us. The atmosphere during Asa`s time and now is very similar.
But we should group together and pray. As God has mercy.
V.15 The Spirit of God came on Azariah, son of Oded and went out to warn Asa through Azariah.
God gave Asa three warnings
1. The Lord is with you when you are with Him. Do we have time with God. Is our heart with God?
An encouragement for us to trust fully in the Lord, We should not be confused and swayed. Today when God is
with us in every situation, we will have peace.
2. If you se God, He will be found by you. It is a promise from God
3. But if we forsake Him, He will forsake you. A warning and reminder by God.
God encourages Asa (7) But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
1. Be strong
2. Do not give up. V8 Asa took courage and removed all idols.
3. Try ways to have fellowship with the members.
4. For your work will be rewarded. They entered covenant to seek the Lord, with all their heart and soul.
Today what should we do to turn Thais to God. We should give up what that is not helping them and turn to God to help us.
Questions:
1. What does God want us to do in this pandemic situation?
2. If the work we are doing faces some problems, will we give up or challenge on?
" If God is on our side, who can win us?"
