Bishop J Taylor Smith was once a Chaplain-General in The British Army during the Second World War.
During his term of office, he was asked to interview a number of candidates for the post of chaplain. It is said that the Bishop would hire no one who could not answer his most searching question, which was: “I am a dying soldier. I have three minutes to live. I want you to tell me how I can be saved.”
